So my tank is about 4 months old and I have noticed 2 pink splotches on my glass. They are very small and circular. I can get a picture later.

Anyways, if I scrape it off my glass, will it stop it from growing on my rocks? I'd love to have it on my rocks and possibly the back glass, but not on the sides and front. I've been waiting awhile for this stuff to pop up so I don't want to ruin the process by scraping it if it's going to stop it from growing where I ACTUALLY want it.

How do/did you guys go about this when you first started to get coralline algae?

It will grow everywhere eventually and to be honest I keep the back glass spotless, well try to, so coralline is a pain and also grows all over power heads etc.

Scrape it off if you dont want it on the glass. It will act as seed somewhere else. You don't really have control over where it grows. But seeing it on the glass is a good start.

It's in your tank now and you don't have to do anything. I didn't and it is on everything except my front glass. I like it. Scraping can help seed it but I'd keep a little on the glass until you see it elsewhere.

Scrape it off, if it is coraline algae then scraping it off will not effect it in the slightest. I scrape a bunch of it off my glass weekly. :)
