I am currently cycling my sand and CaribSea LifeRock in a 32 gallon trash can so that it is ready for my new tank first thing in June. Would it be beneficial to dose pods and/or coralline algae to build up those beneficial populations?

Is there anything else I could dose now that would pay off later?

Depends on how you cycle. If you are dosing high amounts of ammonia, might want to wait until it is cycled first. At least regarding pods. Unless pods can withstand higher levels of ammonia. XD

Close to the end of your cycle, you should start to see pods of some sort,I would test and then get a $10 jar of pods for AlgaeBarn or AlgaGen to seed the rock.

Does CaribSea liferock have pods?
No, it is not real rock. Once your tank is wet, you could/should add pods. Your tank will be ready for livestock if you are already cycling the rock, which you are.
