Coralline Algae colors

I guess this would go here.

I apologize in advanced for possibly posting topics that's been created thousands of times.. I try to use the search but I keep coming up with unrelated searches.. (if someone can teach me how to use it for more accurate searches, please do!)

anyway, Coralline algae.. we all get them. and they all come in different colors.
The ones I usually get are purples and red. Recently I am getting green- I do not like the green because they remind me of boogers (sorry, but true!)

What causes certain colors? if I want to make certain colors in my tank, how would I do that? Is it the age of the tank?

For me it depends on available lighting spectrum
I do agree I too do not like the green, blah I have enough green from the corals lol
