Some context, I slipped up on maintenance for a long, long time and the front glass of my tank was consumed by coralline algae. So, today I finally took action and decided to scrape it off. However, in the process of doing so, the coralline algae started to emit an orange almost flame-like substance. I wasn't expecting or even knew that this could happen and now I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else?
Then about 30 minutes later, the orange substance mixed with the water column and dyed my water pink. To mitigate the effects, I've refreshed my carbon and I performed a 10% water change. Hopefully, it will pass, but here are some images (sorry about the image quality in advance).
