I have been having some crazy Coralline Algae growth lately. I don't know why. It started all of a sudden. I am thinking it may be the Reef Grow that I have been adding.

Is Coralline good for anything other than looks?

What is in the Reef Grow? I've been reading into dosing Strontium and Mg to expedite growth. It makes the LR look good, and my school of thought is that if it is growing well, SPS should be too. I've heard a couple people over the years theorize that it is bad for LR because it reduces the porocity of the rock. Urchins can keep it in check, but aren't recommend if you have an acrylic tank (urchins can easily scratch acrylic).

My concern is, it uses calcium to grow and expand. So that is less calcium for the SPS in my tank. And I may have to add more calcium to keep levels up.

The concern is minimal
As long as you test and keep "normal" parameters you are fine
