So my nano 5 gallon reef tank has been up and running for about 6 months already and I haven’t seen any coralline algae at all what can I do to help grow it ?

It depends-where did you purchase your rock? If you bought it dry-you're probably going to need a corraline algae supplement. Be exceptionally careful with how much you supplement as you can potentially degrade your water quality.

After that-keep nutrients like nitrate and phosphate as low as possible so competitor algea doesn't out compete the corraline.

Check your alkalinity levels. Should be roughtly 8.4+ to even be able to achieve coralline growth. If you used dry rock, find a small piece of live rock to add in to help seed the other rock.

If you keep consistent Alk levels, low phosphate/nitrate levels and have something in the tank that already has it, you should start seeing growth. Keep in mind the process isn't always quick.

You can increase the flow. Make sure your Ca level are good. Finally, you can use something like purple up to speed up the coralline growth,
godspeed

Whatever you do, be careful when adding purple up or products close to it. You can OD on calcium, or you can throw other parameters out of whack. Best bet would be find someone who has well seeded rock and get a few pieces and place them on your scape. That is the safest and most efficient way! You should upgrade! I learned the hard way with nano. Less water quicker problems.

To get started, go to your LFS and see if they have any empty snail or hermit crab shells laying around the bottom of their tanks that have some coralline on them. They will probably just give them to you. I wouldn’t add anything specifically for coralline.

If you stated with dry rock, you will need to introduce it. On the shells of snails and hermit crabs is the way I did it. Purple up is worthless, so don't waste your money. Here's the real stuff if you want to introduce it by bottle: https://arcreef.com/product/coralline-algae/

What is the light source and do you know roughly the par. IMO ime , the purple corraline does not do well at all in higher light.
Some leds also do seem to have issue with growing corraline. Ime

My alkalinity level is 7.7-7.8 all of the time and I have lots of coralline growth. I didn't even try to get it, it must have come in on a frag plug or snail shell.

Snails and crabs are a great way to introduce it to your tank! Alk levels seem good. I keep my tank at 8.4ish.

Nitrate and Phosphate cannot be too high or else it will not grow. Snails are good enough. Magnesium needs to be at NSW levels. I don't think that caclium or alk matter as long as they are above 380 and 6.5... and they should be above this.
