So its going on 2 years now and my tank rocks still are not growing coralline algae on them. On the other hand my back glass,corners, and sump walls are growing the stuff everywhere. Does this seem a bit weird to anyone?

Seems a bit tragic actually. I'm sure it's a chemistry problem or something like that. I never paid much attention in that class so I'll call for help.

I couldn't grow it on the rocks either. Protein skimmer in the sump with a 20 watt cfl grew it like crazy! Now that I have a couple T5s supplementing my Chinese LEDs, I seem to be getting more on the rocks.
My rocks do have some but the majority is on the glass. In my case I think it's because I have lots of asterina stars and lots of chiton that keep the rocks fairly clear. The rock on my sump is totally covered though.

I honestly get annoyed with Coralline algae. I have tried to keep it out of my tank this time. I went all baserock and seeded with liverock that didn't have the stuff on it. I like keeping my background and overflows black. Wouldn't mind it on the rock but can't have your cake and eat it too. So far so good keeping it out of the tank. We will see how it goes though lol
I have the same thing in my jbj28g nano. I personally suspect the led's. Something about being in back out of the more direct light on a black background.
I notice in my wandering a lot more led tanks have less corraline than other lighting unless they are more full spectrum.
My quad 65w PC tank is sick with corraline my 28 led not so much.

Btw there's a lot of verified non rumor sources that will detai how to look at your corraline and see imbalances. White ring out side spots inside rings inside all indications of Kalk and alk and mag.
Note minimal corraline on back glass. White wall behind. Rocks shells crabs covered in it.

Got any links for that info? I've noticed those indications when my parameters shift. I'm curious to know what they might mean. The zeovite people also manipulate those to great effect. It funny cuz their corraline will indicate a prob but it's just because they manipulated the balance for growth or color.

I looked up the zeovit. Very interesting. I couldn't find anything specific about corralline. Pretty please throw me another bone!
