I have coralline algae growing all over my tank which is good and the light green tint on the rock is slowly going away and turning purple. There are a couple spots I am noticing that are super dark purple almost black in color. is this still coraline? Its only this one spot.

Coralline algae comes in many different colors. To me it’s hard to see but it appears black due to no light hitting that spot. As it’s in the shadow of the nem. However it’s probably red coralline algae. Red green pink and purple it can be. That’s just my opinion. Maybe someone else can help as well!!!

Thanks for the response. I had turned the light off to be able to take a clear pic with my phone. It probably is just coralline. It just looked really odd.
