coralline algae question

I am curious as to why I don't have any coralline growing, not on my glass, not or rocks. nothing. My params are fine, no spikes anywhere. What can I do (other than adding supplements) to boost growth? Or are supps the only way to go??

How long has your tank been running? Coraline likes lots of calcium..

Agree with SoCal. Coraline loves calcium alot. Any rocks or drags have coraline? If so, scrape a bit off with a knife and begin dosing Cal, alk. It will happen soon. After it starts, most will tell you it is a chore because it tries to consume the front of the DT as well as everything else.

tank has been up for roughly 10 months but only two months at my house (moved everything, water included from friends house) will dosing cal, or alk damage any corals?

corals consist of:
Xenia
Frogspawn
Feather Duster
Cabbage Leather
Kenya Tree Leather
another leather can't remember the name
Sun coral
Zoas
Palys
typical mushrooms
Green hairy mushroom
Neon green trumpet
GSP
2 Chalice
1 favia

I don't dose anything,

within 6 months most of my rock was covered, as well as 30% of my back glass

Give it time. Believe me when the params stay steady it will grow. And while it does love the calcium it also likes magnesium. What are the numbers for your CA, Alk, Ph and Mg?

my tank has been up for 3 months and I have no growth either. My calc is 490ppm, dKH is 12, pH is 8.4, and Alk is 2.4

I misplaced my tracking binder, I know none of the params raised questions or concerns. I think they one I remember is the cal was 440ppm, pH was 8.2, alk was 11 dKH

Those parameters are all good. I say give it a little time. If you don't check for mg it is a good idea to do so, it affects the ca balance in the tank. Another thing that I have noticed with coraline is that it likes a very blue spectrum of light.

My buddy tests my mag for me atm, but I am gonna get me a test ASAP. I only have a 4 bulb t5 fixture with 1 actinic..

I've never had to do it, but have heard of others seeding their tank with coralline scrapings. Find a friend that needs to clean their glass....
