Ive recently have had coralline algae growth but mainly in the darker parts of my tank and ive been wondering why and how i can get it to spread

Scrape the glass or the bottom of your tank that has some on it. Let it settle in the areas your want it and hopefully it takes off. Some people call it seeding your tank.

Give it time but don't let it start on the front of the tank. I've been fighting to get it off with multiple scrapers for wks now.

It definitely prefers or starts off in lower light for me when I start a new tank. But after a while it just grows all over the place. Staying on top of Mg levels, in addition to Alk and Ca, will help, as will a higher pH.

In nature scientists can predict where corraline algae will grow based on how deep they are. At a certain depth corraline algae begins to proliferate. Its so predictable they gave it a name. Corraline zone or something.
