Coralline algae

Depends on who you ask.
In and of itself, it is not harmful.
It can, however, use up a lot of the magnesium, alk, and calcium your corals need if you have a lot of it, resulting in more of a need to dose. It's the same as any other coralline.
You do need to make sure it's not red slime you actually have, though. If it's hard like a hard coral skin, you're good. Thick and slimy, well...

+1 coralline algae is very benefical and you can't stop it from growing in a healthy tank.
 
So that dark red isn't bad

As long as it is hard not slimey it is good algae.
