Coralline algae

Calcium, Magnesium and Alkalinity need to kept at Reef levels.
Cal 380-460
ALK- 7-12dKH
Magnesium- 1250-1350
Sg 1.025-1.027
 
Yes, it does happen to newer tanks, but not ones that already have it growing on the glass.
 
I have noticed Asterina star fish hanging on the glass and coralline algae being white where they are.

Little speck asterina in the center of the pic clearly ate through some spots of the coralline.

Have you changed your lights recently? Every time I do especially if I change the color spectrum or intensity of the lighting my coastline bleached and takes a couple months to recuperate.
 
Yea after something eats the coralline (usually at night), it turn white, then green with algae, then dark with darker algae. Probably will grow back on it's own, since it grew there in the first place.
