Coralline algae

Just curious to what benefits having coralline algae other then knowing you have a stable tank .. I see people ask what to dose to get coralline algae and I don’t understand why ? Is it to get the tank more in shape. Knowing it should grow on its own if your keeping the tank up to par and spec. Just a thought. Thanks reefers

coraline algae not only looks great, but it helps out compete nuisance algae, and in nature, it holds the reefs rocks together.

I agree on the looks I have the light pink / purple as of right now lol and I didn’t think about the algae part but makes 100% sense Now is it worth dosing to get more or is it best to have it naturally come ?

Find a crab or snail with some in its shell and scratch it off into a powerhead

I already have it in my tank in small patches and on my snail but it’s not as much as I would like I guess. Plus I suppose it doesn’t matter much since I just upgraded tanks from my evo 13.5

It's slow growing. If already seeded you just need time.

I personally wouldn't dose coraline, unless you really want to speed up growth. Coralline algae comes on pretty much everything like crab shells, frag plugs, live rock, snails, so it's likely you'll get it whether you like it or not.
