I'm aware coralline algae consumes calcium and other trace elements, but will it consume alkalinity?

Not sure how these forums work and if this will bump this thread but the title was spot on to what I wanted to ask in more detail. I setup a new anemone tank almost a year ago now with fresh rocks. No corals in it intentionally just anems. Within the last month or two my alk / calc demand has been rising and just testing it yesterday / today it appears to be around 3 dkh a day. The number seemed high so I thought maybe i'm just over dosing and precipitation is happening but I run a 50 gallon bare bottom tank, mag I keep 1400-1500, and there's only a light dusting of specs in the sump. However there is coralline growing EVERYWHERE on the rocks, it's coming in nicely but seems to be hoggin down alk / calc. I've been keeping up with it the last couple weeks, just seemed high to me but maybe with its accelerated growing more and more is needed. Thanks for your time!!
