Greetings reef peeps - noticed something yesterday I'd never noticed before and wondering if it is a normal occurrence.

Yesterday morning I was doing my initial tank check and noticed some incredibly bright pink coralline on a snail shell, was super happy because it was like 80s neon rubber bracelet pink. There is a pic of it below, one with the regular lighting, I run ap700 all blues, and the same pic with the blue filtered out.

Last night as I was feeding I noticed the same patch of coralline had faded to a purple with even some white mottled in - what the heck?? Was so disappointed to see that it didn't occur to me to snap a pic.

Does coralline change color during the day, over the course of the light cycle??

Not sure what I’m seeing other than the same photo under 2 different light settings...
I’m not sure coraling changes colors unless you overdose H2O2 like a idiot, I can testify it will change colors then
I know of 4 natural coraline colors: purple, dark pink, light pink and green, might be more..... I wanna say they are actually diffevent types as opposed to environmentally caused color changes ....
I am fully open to being wrong here and challenged ... hopefully another poster can clean up/clarify

Thanks for your reply, you are correct it is the same pic, one under regular lights and one with the blue pulled out.

I haven't dosed anything but just changed salt mix from reef crystals to fritz which has lower alk. I just did my 1st water change with it. I'll test my parameters but have been keeping them in check with just water changes after royally screwing them up using an all in one product - not the product's fault, mine for not testing as frequently as I should've.

Just saw this in a search, since have noticed same in my tank recently. It doesn’t seem to end well for the algae that goes pink. At least in my tank. It was bleached a day later and did not come back. Isolated to small patches though.
