It won’t come off with a turkey baster but I can scrape it with a wooden skewer. If it’s not corraline what would be the best route to take for getting rid of it?

Not coraline algae but since your tank is so new and looks like uncured dry rock, you will be going through some ugly stages soon.

Dont worry about adding chemicals to try to get rid of it, just keep it as clean as you can with elbow grease and you can also add certain micro fauna to help populate the rocks and establish them faster. Eventually you will be able to keep algae free rocks but it will take some time.

Kinda figured. Just got over diatom algae. I have however read conflicting things about it being harmful to marine life.

Cyano is toxic but that is not cyano. Do you have any spots popping up on the glass or plastic parts inside the aquarium?

Theres lots of threads about a hard red slimey feeling algae and ive had it too but its not harmful. Like diatoms.
