My current 29g tank had a lot of coralline growing a month ago. Tanks been up for a year but i didnt get lights before maybe 4 months ago. My parameters at the time was 450 calc 1350 mag 11.7 alk and nitrate maybe 3ppm phos ?.

My tank had some algea growing (very little) but in my attempts to raise nitrates after they hit 0 i think the algae on the rocks had been sucking all the phos and nitrate from my water. In this time my coralline seemed to be smothered by the algae. My cuc has taken almost half of the algae away and the algae does not seem to be able to grow back on those rocks but Im not seeing a lot of coralline returning only the rocks with a darkish greenish tinge. Consequently my frogspawn hasnt been opening as big i think its due to low phos and nitrate
Current parameters are 10.1 alk 440 calc 1290 mag .04 phos 1ppm nitrate
I am going to get rid of all the remaining algea on the rocks to see if my nitrates raise

All my other corals are opening up, my current salt is red sea coral pro which is why my alk was so high a couple months ago. I havent done a big water change in the last few months. Will be buying some hw marine salt as i am aiming for 8dkh alk,

unless you added a small urchin

I'm tagging along for the ride

:)

Bumping, for (water chemistry) answer on fading coralline

Honestly i think its a nutrience problem, tested my phos and its .01ppm from .04ppm, and nitrates 1-3ppm. Going to remove any algea i find on the glass and not clean my filter socks in an effort to raise them, if not ill consider using the brighwell nitrate for dosing. My favia stops sending sweeper tencticles when my phos and nitrate get too low. But my frogspawn is now opening a lot bigger since i moved it.
sal 1.025
Phos .01
Nitrate 1ppm
Alk 9.9
Calc 440
Mag 1290
Also bought some reef roids, going to be feeding in an effort to raise the nitrates.

Yeah,
I was looking for an answer for something like a lack of strontium or another element.

I havent done a water change in a bit, but will do a small one to replace elements. Using red sea coral pro so dont wanna spike the alk. Curent 9.9dkh aiming for 8.4. Salt mixes to to 12. Going to switch to probably hw marine or honestly instant ocean i dont know yet

IO is high in alk too, but do not let my tagging question throw you off of your low phos and nitrates.

The DD Pro Mag salt mix would come in to what your looking for in alk, but the bigger buckets have been out of stock for a long time.

The Red Sea Blue Bucket mixes to about 7.8 dhk in alk.
