tank was started completely dry about 9 months ago. Starting to see a ton of purple coralline algae but I’ve seen these spots pop up almost overnight. Is this just a different form of coralline? It’s hard, doesn’t blow off and it’s the tip top of my tank. Specs are about 3mm wide and fairly uniform. White to maybe pink.
Only additions that have any surface area to bring things in are snails and hermits. This is a new rock nem tank.
Pics are in blue spectrum and only white.

typical..coralline turns white when it dies off.

I wish my phone took better pictures lol
I doubt the coralline would be dying, tank is doing well (knock on wood).
I did look up nerite eggs because I have 3 nerite snails. It looks exactly like my spots.
Thanks for all your help!!

Do you have asterina starfish?
You have coralline. If it turns white it is dead. My white coralline is from said starfish eating it so it turns white. Coral growth can sting and kill it too turning it white. They can come in on frags live rock ect.
