Corals all dying?!

Hello im at a loss all of my lps keep dying. i have a 120g reef ready with a 30g sump.
Lighting

2 hydra 26hd


Water parameters

Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0-5ppm
Ammonia 0
Ph 7.8
Calc 460
Alk was at 12dkh

Betcha you got a swingarm reading 1.024 when its actually 1.032

Take water sample into a LFS and see what their #s are

How would the low nutrients happen?

Typically feeding more can help. When I ran high alkalinity I had to make sure I had nutrients in the tank. Combine that with intense lighting and that could cause what your experiencing. I dont know why someone would assume your using a swing arm hydrometer, lol. #reefsquad any more ideas.

Do you have calibration fluid for your refractometer?

It does seem ph is a bit low for a reef tank may have to buffer the alk down a bit and i agree that nutrients may also be an issue im no expert but all the reef tanks i seen had stable ph @ 8.1-8.4 and dkh around 8-10 and sg at 1.025-27 dont know if this helps

Especially when water evaporates that can quickly climb to 1.029

Imo bring it down to 1.023 after a WC...so if you dont get to a topoff, its going to give you a 1.025 climb as a buffer

Why not just get the tank to 1.025 and top off everyday so there's no swing? Making a lower salinity just to allow it creep up is just as bad IMO. I've never had a problem keeping the tank at a consistent number which was always my goal, stability.

I agree with dsc with your alk being so elevated you may be running into an nutrient issue. What does your po4 test out at? What kind of feeding schedule are you running? Spot feeding lps can be very helpful if nutrients are the issue.
