Corals and Life-Span

Do you feel that, let's say, a coral piece you have.... does it have a general life-span? And no matter how much of a near-perfect environment you provide it, it will eventually die? And may or may not produce many offspring

Or

Do you feel that given a near-perfect environment, your coral piece can grow and live on waaaaay past a hobbyist's life for decades and decades, maybe into centuries?

like the 400 year old turbinaria I saw on planet earth show

I know that’s ocean vs captive reefs, but genetically they sure can live on and on and on given decent controls, micro testing using systems that age (take on waste and problems) much faster than large tanks also reflects this in data, limitless lifespan for corals
