Hello all,

Curious if any of you BTA keepers have any corals that seem unaffected by the sting of your BTA? My nems are isolated on their own rock so they can't sting everything in the tank, but I have had to move a couple of neighbors including leathers and duncans. I have a green pocilipora which seems unaffected and if anything is keeping the nem at bay with stinging cells of its own.

My other SPS corals are still too small and expensive for me to experiment with. I've seen pictures of other tanks with nems nustled in the middle of other corals seemingly unaffected. Curious what corals you have that are next to BTAs with out ill effects.

Thanks,
Ben

I have a large RBTA, and it stings everything. Torches, hammers, toadstool, trumpet, zoas, Xenia, etc...
I’ve had GSP near my anemone for about a year, and i haven’t seen any problems. I also haven’t seen the anemone touch the GSP, but since it’s a cheap coral you may as well try it out.

My euphyllia unaffected which is why I placed my bra there

Xenia* I put an asterisk because nem will sting Xenia initially in my experience but after a week or so will no longer sting (became friends?) lol

Interesting. Do you have any pics? @EvanDeVita just said his torches and hammers got stung :/

Thanks. I do love some pompom pulsing xenia, but I'm trying not to add anything considered invasive to this tank including xenia an GSP.

I actually use my anemone to remove

That’s strange. My bta wiped out a Xenia colony I was growing. Turned it to literal ash

It’s probly up to the anemone to decide lol, my Xenia was mad for about 2 weeks then it just didn’t matter that the tentacles were touching, not sure if relevant but my BTA is a tank raised rainbow
