Just curious but if you knew that you were going to add a nem/clowns at some point what corals would you be willing to add to a new tank? I've been looking at some of the corals that the wonderful sponsors put on here and some of them look absolutely fabulous...just not sure if some of them would be a waste of money to get if I'm eventually going to get a nem.

Thanks

mick

any and all corals just be prepared to move them or lose them to the nem
bta nems usually stay put or close to it

+1!!

I have nems with corals in both my tanks! With my 300, I was concerned about a bta moving around and not being able to move coral colonies out of it's way without moving entire large rocks so I went with an LTA - figured I could move things a lot easier on the sandbed. After just one move - it has stayed in place. During it's move it came in contact with several coral .... and didn't hurt any of them but a torch that lost several heads afterwards. On my 90 I decided I wanted to try BTA's - didn't have as many coral yet and what was in there I was willing to 'move or lose' to get some of the awesome morphs ..... once they settled in after acclimation they haven't moved either. I also have several maxi-mini's - none of which have moved a bit since putting in the tanks.

Interestingly enough, I had a small bta split that moved into a pink birdsnest for a day .... I figured that section of the coral would be toast for sure ..... but it had no effect on it whatsoever.

I think if you have the tank to keep the nems happy, they won't move around much at all once they have their spot. Having said that, I also know that at any point they may wander.....and my coral could be harmed .... so it is just whether or not you want to take the risk.
