Anybody on here notice the same thing? Some days everything in the entire tank looks good and other days things just look a little off. I'm speaking for lps .

i definitely see my acans and lobed brain coral go through some ups and downs. sometimes they are really puffed up and looking good then they could deflate and be back to normal in a matter of hours.

The main corals that do it are my lobo, trachy, and wellso. I've been wondering if I'm doing something wrong or it's kinda normal. Other than that all other corals look good.

i think its normal to see fluctuations like that. i would be worried if they looked like they were losing some tissue or had many days in a row that they look poor. as long as your parameters are stable i wouldnt worry.

It's also about how we perceive "good" or "bad". We think the corals look good when fully extended, but actually may be happily digesting when totally restricted and appears shrunken. Mine go through daily cycles which are normal after viewing them over the past years.

My acans do that all the time, while they don't "look" healthy I am sure they are fine. When I first got them it worried me so much lol

Yeah, I always wondered if it was just my tank lol. Whenever I go to the LFS or see pictures online, everything seems to be open and looking good all the time.

I'm sure there are more than a few reasons for them to be happy one day to the next but I've noticed the my Acans seem to be happier when my ph doesn't dip too low at night. Ph swing seems to effect them day to day more than other parameters but I've also found that low nitrate or phosphate can cause them to look unhappy. I've added nitrate and seen them bounce back in around 24hrs. It also seemed to help some zoas that hadn't been opening.

This hobby feeds my anxiety well! One day everything is amazing, the next I think it's all going to die.

After adjusting flow, it made a huge difference on polyp extension. They still have their days though.
