Well, here i go again. Gha so I got some vibrant . 7 weeks gha melted all the nutrients taken up by my ats 0 nitrates and phosphates cyano took care of that . Dinos got dino x to fight had to raise nutrients so I took my algea turf scubber off line for this . Dino x killed all my pineapple spunges that apparently hold phosphates . Phosphates made it to .48 not good that was at 5 dose of dino x . So I put activated carbon back in and phosgaurd. And started my algea turf scrubber back up. 5 days I am back to .07 corals are not happy but still alive. I am having problems taming down my scubber. I took a screen out . Still 0's I am going for a smaller light today I am funding a 40 led grow light and it must be to powerful will try a 20 watt . See what happens. Wish me luck . I have not tried water flow yet if I slow it down will it slow the scrubber down.

Sorry for the aggravation. Personally, I'm not a fan of bottled solutions. You'd be better off identifying the source of the problem and correcting it.

I'm guessing (and this is just a guess): Vibrant, DinoX, Phosguard... that is a lot to add so closely together. Maybe this is what is upsetting your corals? Also, adding activated carbon... won't that remove what you're putting in?

May I suggest going old school fo a few months? Stick with faithful, weekly water changes, and don't add anything. Monitor your corals as they don't bounce back overnight.

What are your Calcium and Alkalinity levels? Also how large is your tank and sump?

Phosphate .07
Nitrates 5
Calcium 380
Alk. 8.2
Mag.1350
125 with 30 gallon sump
I have been running uln and tring to get alk down to 7 . But I am tring to get my phasphates to stay .03 it is a learning process for algea turf scubber. I'm just glad my coral are ok . I don't like chemicals either. But the vibrant i dosed for 8 weeks to kill green hair that is when all the pineapple spunges grew in my sump. 1000's of them then cyano started and dinos took over cyano disappeared. I tried lights out. And It nocked it down good but started to come back. Dinos killed my birdsnest started to cover my exenia and frogspawn . Was blowing it off of them every day but just got worse so dino x.

I keep my calcium in the 420-440 range. 380 isn't terrible, but you may want to bring the Calcium up a bit. Alkalinity is fine in my opinion.

When dealing with algae and dinos, I find the best action is manual removal. Prior to a water change, scrub the algae off rock and other surfaces to get it suspended in the water column. Then siphon out your old water, taking as much of the free floating matter as you can with it. Then replace with new water.

But again, identifying the cause is always the best solution.

what is you're current PH at?

I have tracked my phosphates every 2 days with hanna low range. And going from .48 to .07 in 5 days can not be good but .48 is not even good for fish letalone coral. Now my challenge it keeping my nutrients the same.
