Hi, spending more time than usual at home recently, and I notice all of my zoa, alveopora and anemone everyday are much less extended between 4 and 6 pm, and are quite shriveled up during that time. Not sure if this is something new, or something which has been going on for a while. I do have cyano on the sand currently. More than I would like, and more than I ever had before. Later in the evening corals look fine again though. Double checked my dosing pump to see if there were any large doses around that time but there were not, I dose pretty evenly during the day. Any ideas?

Have u moved around flow or power heads lately? Maybe by that time they have already gotten the light they need so they shrivel up. My leatherS and some zoas do that occasionally, I wouldn’t be concerned unless it happens from morning to night thx
I have indeed adjusted the flow a few times this week. I was worried seeing different corals reacting like this at a certain time during the day. Wondering if something else is going on. Earlier and later in the day they are fine.
I wouldn't think it is a parameter or flow problem, if it happens at the same time every day. What is your lighting schedule, they possibly may be closing up after having been blasted with a lot of light at peak lighting hours?

Light intensity or high temps?
So... I adjusted my lighting over a couple of days, and still get the same results. After a few hours of light, the zoa, alveopora and anemone still retract/shrink, even if lighting is only done by two t5 bulbs (instead of 8). Any other suggestions? Not really sure how to proceed now, and getting more worried. Thanks

I have the same problem, but I still have some things going on like higher than normal phosphates. But all corals look good until about 3pm, then some start closing up. I've tried managing my light intensity, as my acros all like being blasted all day long. It's the LPS, that are closing up in the afternoon.

You're turning on most of your lights at 3 and they look like crap from 4-6? Is there any way you can stagger the ramp-up of your lights more?
No I cannot stagger more am using an ati powermodule with only 2 circuits, 2 and 6 tubes. I had some cyano in the tank at that time, and the issue resolved completely when the cyano was gone.
For me I found the problem was likely connected to the presence of cyano in the tank. Once the cyano was gone, things returned to normal. Some corals seem to have been irritated even though they were not covered in cyano.
