Over the last few days my corals (predominantly LPS tank) have looked a little jaded. Hammers & frogspawns aren’t opening up. Chalices looking rather ‘close to the bone’ and a lot of ‘mouths’ are staying open. All in all nothing is opening as it should.

Water params seem okay,

Salinity: 1.24
Nitrate: 5-10
Phosphate: 0.15
KH/Alk: 8
Calcium: 480-490
Magnesium: 1410

Only thing that’s changed is I used rather a lot of two part expoxy that made the water cloudy, I’ve since done two 15% over consecutive days. The water has cleared up but the corals haven’t cheers up yet.

If the epoxy was the likely culprit, any tips on remedying? Apparently the epoxy can starve the tank of oxygen. I’d rather get things sorted sooner rather than later

Also check your temp. If you’re worried about oxygen I’d add an air stone or take the cup off your skimmer and turn up the turn over on your return pump. Also change out your carbon and maybe even add a little extra if you’re concerned about contaminants from the two part

Temp is spot on. Currently not running a skimmer. I’ve manually removed 90% of the two part I added the other day and none of it had cured. My guess is that it’s been slowly leaching into the tank over the last couple of days.
No carbon at the moment but doing a water change now

yeah it sounds like they are upset from the two part. I’d go get some carbon for sure. It’ll help remove the contaminants even if you just use a mesh bag. Do you have a power head you can point towards the surface of the water to create more oxygen. That might help as well

Water changes are helpful but there’s no way to remove all the contaminants without some form of chemical filtration
I’ll pick up some carbon tomorrow. My inexperience is showing here without having things in case of emergencies! Appreciate the help

Some epoxies temporarily change the surface tension of the water, in addition to making your skimmer go nuts, may irritate corals. It should correct itself without any interventions, but may take up to a week.
I don’t use that stuff anymore. Try Gorilla Glue Gel (green top).
I glued everything below 3 years ago.

Thank you for the heads up, your tank looks amazing! Mines in the tiny little frag stage at the minute.. but give it time

Me? If so that’s why I’m so keen to see it thrive
Yeah you. @Uncle99 has an awesome tank too. I agree with gel version of the gorilla super glue. I use it for mounting frags and glueing frags to plugs. It’s the only glue that goes in my tank. Other super glue gels are fine too I just prefer gorilla glue. But don’t put normal gorilla glue in your tank

Thank you! And I’ll get some sorted for the next lot of frags
