Corals on glass?

Let me preface this by stating I'm new to corals. So I'm going to be setting up a 120g soon and was thinking about the background. What are everyone's thoughts concerning growing coral on the back glass? Is it even possible? Is it not recommended?

I have a chalice that is growing up my glass (it doesn't attach well though and I don't think would stick to the glass) and gsp growing up the back glass on the other side of the tank.
I love the way a wall of gsp looks on a tank.

Here is a bad picture I have on my phone where you can see the chalice growing up the glass in the background.

There is actually a small piece of gsp on the glass to the right of it, but most of my gsp is farther over and I don't have a picture of but I can take one later this evening. It hasn't been growing up the glass but for a few months so it hasn't gone very far and isn't impressive looking...yet.

I've had a monti growing on the glass. Presently I have mushrooms on the back of the glass

There is no issues with doing so , in fact it can be magnificent like growing a carpet of GSP or cyphastria

I've been looking at all different types of aquascapes and have only seen coral on the back once. Thought it looked great. Thanks everyone for the info and a couple ideas.

I had 2 different color monti's plating up, and out of my glass. Looked really cool actually. I had to take the tank down due to new flooring throughout the house. With the monits back in the tank and close to the glass....... They will eventually grow on it again.

I have noticed though that they will not only etch the glass where they grow, but they grow way slower then attached to rock.

I found if I google "Growing coral on back glass" I get a ton of results. So many ideas. It's so much fun setting up a new tank.

I recenty put 4 frags on my 120's back wall. Two fell off and two have encrusted.
Corals encrust much better on the acrylic overflow.

Oh god corals love the acrylic cover on overflows!

Even corals that don't normally encrust, will. I had a purple stylo covering the overflow cover before I took the tank down. It never "branched out", just kept encrusting over the acrylic.

Should be fine with most carpet corals as long as they are getting enough light. Just do some research about the coral you want and watch it for a few days.

What would be wild is to make an acrylic insert for the back with holes for plugs. I wonder if anything like that is available?

Tunze makes magnetic rocks that I have been looking at.

I have some gsp on my overflow (excuse the cyano). I really like the way it looks and it adds some nice movement.

I had purple mushrooms in my 120g that grew up entire back wall in aquarium

stunk when i upgraded and back to clean glass in the back

i lied grew up the overflows
