I just upgraded from my 72 to a 180 a couple weeks ago and these guys aren't bouncing back.

Monti: I did a lugol's dip on the monti yesterday, but algae is already growing back on the surface and I don't know what to do to help him out. There's a birdsnest up and to the right (higher in the tank) of the monti that's doing great, and another acro right in front of it that's a resuce from another tank and it's doing fairly well.

Hydnophora: (I know it's LPS but I didn't want to put this in tank emergencies or make two threads) has a branch that appears to have some fungus on it. This is completely new to me and googling is giving me wildly varied results. I have iodine and coralRX on hand. Should I do a dip? Do I need to worry about any other corals in my tank dying because of this?

Any and all help is appreciated. I hate to lose colonies like this. I'm running carbon in line right now.

Water params:
  • Calc has been stable on my reactor for about a week ~420-440
  • Alk I'm still dialing in, but has been between 8.5-9 when I test every night
  • Ammonia 0
  • Nitrate ~0
  • Nitrite ~0
  • Phosphate ~.05 (going through a mini-cycle)

Equipment:
  • 2x XR-30 Pro (SPS-AB Schedule)
  • 2x XR-15 Pro (SPS-AB Schedule)
  • 3x MP-40 (each running ~50% to keep from blasing lps & churning sand)
  • Super dart / snapper return pump (~1600 GPH turnover)
  • SM-202 Skimmer
  • 40g sump w/ 20g chaeto & mangrove fuge lit by kessil H380

Dying monti 2.jpg

Hi All - pulling this thread in from general SPS discussion because I need help. Any advice here is appreciated. I just fed the corals with a round of reef roids.

Thanks,
Chris
