I see lots of reefs with corals that lay in the sand beds; plates, people lay chalices, and so on. I personally have had a diamond goby in my tank for quite some time now though, from watching his behavior and actions I do not believe it would really be a good idea to place anything in the sand bed like that. It would most likely get covered immediately. I have a large lobo brain in the sand bed with many heads and that is ok, but I think that is only because it is large enough and protrudes up enough for him to not cover it or move it. So my question is then, reefers, what are your thoughts on diamond gobys or sand sifting gobys with your sand bed? Does the sand bed not benefit from the goby? What do you do instead?

Go with your instinct :)
Works the best sometimes, I've lost corals to that problem

I think sand sifting fish are great. However your above concern is one of the reasons I've never gotten one. Corals that have large polyps like a head on an acan constantly get sand stuck in there.
