Great question! Probably going to get some different viewpoints.

For me, I like to leave on the frag rack until I see some growth from the frag. Then it’s time to find the perfect spot in the aquarium.

i generally only use the frag rack to observe if anything missed my dipping. for example, i would leave the frag on the rack for about a week to see any signs of aiptasia, nuisance algae (like bryopsis, or anything else), etc. if i don't see anything, i then move to where i want to glue it.

Well, I use a frag rack from some corals and not others. When they are just in qt, I will leave lps on a rack for a time to make sure to see polyp extension and some growth. Same with zoas. If any of the corals are actually on a small rock on a plug, I take the plug off and just set on larger rock.

I move softies to rubble or rock: for mushrooms, I get rid of plug right away and just add to dish of rubble, same with rock flower/maximini anemones.

After I see some happy polyps, I cut off the lps from the plug and get onto rock. I hate plugs.

Note: As I do not run mush sps anymore, this is how I did do it. I would cut them off plug (or cut the stem off plug if encrusted) and put on a rock.
