I bought an ice cap 27W UV sterilizer which has a parent company CoralVue. It was defective and I requested a replacement body, which was leaking due to an obvious manufacturer defect (poor chemical weld at a joint with 4 pinhole leaks). BRS was out of stock so the manufacturer guaranteed me they will have the part in soon and send to me as they had more ready.

It is now more than 10 weeks later and I have seen several companies including Saltwateraquarium.com get these in stock that were previously out of stock during this ordeal.

I also requested a refund since they waited so long I could no longer return it to BRS and they did nothing.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM CORALVUE. IT WILL BREAK AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING.

I am aware this isn't an emergency. This is just so screwed up I want to improve visibility.

Call them, don’t email them for effective communication

I did and have gotten the same response "I do apologize however we are still out of stock at this time." Even to my demand that they send me a refund or I file a complaint with the BBB and FTC. I have never had this poor of service with any company.

I’m shocked - I had an issue with skimmer a while back and coralvue was superb

Hey @ZombieEngineer ,
So sorry to hear about the leaking UV sterilizer and delay on parts. After reviewing the situation with our customer service team, we're going to get this refunded back to you in the form of BRS points so that you can purchase something that will fit your needs. Our customer service team lead, Matt, will be calling shortly to confirm.

Different Experience

I have reef octopus K-250 Kalk stirrer - the motor burned out on me so I started looking for RO customer service only to find out that they have none - I was suppose to get in touch with coralvue. I called them and of course they were out of stock (Thank you COVID). The lady who answered my call told me that whenever it gets back in stock, she would let me know and surprisingly 3 months later she DID call me back.

That experience drived me away from reef octopus product only because I don't have direct contact with the manufacturer unlike Neptune, ecotech and other brands (personal opinion though).

Anyways the whole point I was trying to make is that - even though its not convenient but sometimes these companies can not help us when they are out of stock, its unfortunate but COVID is still around to put the blame on lol.

I think in that situation the company should completely refund the money regardless of their policy.

I realize this is very frustrating to you and I empathize with you. Hopefully you will get this resolved ASAP! That being said we have rules for leaving feedback and you already have a feedback thread created. We don't allow for multiple threads to be created about the same interaction. I am combining the two threads.

Although CoralVue is not a sponsor here they will have the ability to respond to your thread if they so desire to. They can reach out to me to gain access. Otherwise I would create a ticket with them, call them, email them or reach out on social media or all of the above.

Hope you get this resolved soon!
