somebody to me to take the glass out of them because it lets more light out ? then i had somebody tell me if i take the glass out that they are a pain to get the screws back in so sombody please tell me what you people did ??? out or in is the ques...

If it's a single ended bulb, take it out. No need for the glass as the reflector should be high enough off the water to stay clean. A double ended (hqi) bulb needs the glass to protect the tank from uv rays.

how high shoild they be off the water ? 12 -14 in ?

Imho leave the glass in . U want the the bulb about 16 inches above the water . It would be from he first bend to the water surface . Leave it that way for a month, Look undeneath and if it has water spots then clean it . If not then take it apart and remove the glass . I leave mine in . It keep the reflective surface clean . I have seen a lot of spotty reflectors due to spash and they look like crap .

yea i have to , ok thxs for all the info guys
