Anyone have any real life experience using the Sch 80 bulkheads from CoralVue? I'm thinking of using them for a bottom drilled closed loop 8' peninsula build. I prefer the slip x slip bulkhead version which is hard to find in Sch 80.

Here is the link...

I have used these a few times. They are much better quality than the typical sch40 ABS bulkheads. Just be aware that even though advertised as Sch80, they are the same dimensions as Sch40 ABS. Usually, SCh80 bulkheads are larger in diameter for a given pipe size. They use O rings not gaskets, and have one in the collar/nut also which you have to 'grease' in order to torque it down properly.

Yeah I saw the picture of the O-ring inset in the nut, I don't quite understand the need on that side of the tank. How robust do they appear to be? I'm leaning towards a closed loop at the bottom far end of my new 8' peninsula, I would like to feel comfortable that they won't crack or split like the Sch 40 ABS version.

I only use slip bulkheads, so I’ve not actually cracked or split any of the ABS bulkheads. The coralvue ones certainly feel more robust though. They were my go to bulkheads for more challenging applications like bottom panel holes.

Yeah I've never had one crack either. I'm just more nervous about bulkheads in the bottom panel but the look is so much cleaner than powerheads or gyres.
