hi all, just bought my first cornbred coral online. Just wondering if anyone has any? Or if they are really worth the cost?

It's hard for me to say! I won't buy a less than 1 inch mushroom for $500. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if you like it who is out here to tell you differently.

Lol lol lol be prepared to be shocked. I have bought a few times.. most are around a 1/4 inch so don't get ur hopes up ur getting a big frag

Worth it if you have limited space and want to know you are getting a show piece. The large importers get to filter through a lot of coral in order to find the some of the most attractive pieces which is at the expense of bulk orders. I've purchased a few and definitely happy once they grow out but that will take a while going from a tiny 1/2 inch frag so.

Coral are not an investment, so if your happy with your purchase then it is totally worth it. It comes down to disposable income.

^^^This OMG, some people literally think their tanks are full of 100 dollar bills, lol.

I give frags to all my friends who want higher end corals but can't afford to buy them no need for them to be jealous of my tank also if I ever have a crash it's nice to have back ups

Can I be your friend?

Find a group local of 3-4 people and do a group buy. Get more for your money. The. Grow them out and cut them up. Everyone has a piece and if yours dies you got someone to get another frag from later.

And yes he has nice corals. High price for sure for small frag but most the big end sellers are that way.

Local clubs are also a good way to start collecting. Share corals with friends. If you lose a colony or two, got backups!

I think price is like beauty. It's all in the eye of the beholder. If a frag costs $1000 and you like it (for that price hopefully love it) and have the money laying around and won't jump off a building if it dies, then by all means. If you are going to be sick when it doesn't glow (flouresce) in your tank like it does in vendors pictures then you may want to pass. That being said there are certainly specific cultivars that really shine above others. Is the price difference between 2 similar frags worth it? That is up to the buyer.

It is, but that is money I spent and I dont expect to make back. Just like putting 10k into modding my car. I know ill never see what I have invested if I decide to sell it. Thats not what its about for me.

just all depends on if you like it enough to spend what the asking price is for them. we as hobbyist set the prices of the coral if no one is willing to pay 500.00-1k for a little mushroom then they cant charge that and prices will obviously come down but as long as the big names keep coming out with LE designer names and corals and we keep paying prices keep going up.

as many others have said if you want it and are okay with paying the price you did its fine nothing special about anything with anyone's name on it other than they got to go through and pick the cream of the crop and find an unusual morph that they can slap a name on and make bank

That's why I rarely buy online. If I want something that's expensive I wait for a show or someone local to sell some because I can give a hoot who's name is on the front
