Seems to be holding water so far, it's a deep blue 60 gallon rimless frag tank. :(

Concerned because it is the corner of 48" back panel + side panel, glass is only 10mm thick and it's rimless

Somewhat relieved because it's the overflow corner with the plastic overflow acting as additional support for the two panels + where the chip is, water level doesn't reach that high inside the overflow box

What are your thoughts? Is it going to spread? Should I start prepping for a new tank?

It's a gamble. Looks to be a hard impact and the glass was fractured behind the silicone. Me, I'd be thinking of replacing it soon.

If I silicone a piece of glass on each corner, would that stop any further damage?

And yet... I wouldn't be too concerned with that chip...

Being at the top of the glass, water pressure would be minimal. Couple that with the fact the chip is located in the overflow, I am thinking the structure in the corner adds stability.

I'd monitor it and be prepared it if test worse.

Thanks everyone. I have a back up tank just in case but for now, I decided to try siliconing a piece of glass each corner for further bracing.

I think the best piece you could add is a piece that goes across the top forming a triangle, holding the two corners together.

I was thinking that as well. I wanted to avoid blocking access to the overflow, however. How big of a piece on top do you think will suffice?

Blocking the overflow... I hadn't thought of that... It would have to be something removable... something that would fit across the corner with a groove what would allow it to drop down over the corner, but you could remove to get into the overflow.

I still think it will be Okay.
