So I bought a 30 gallon deep blue shallow tank and I tried redoing the standpipes. The new drain which is 1 inch is god awful loud. Tried using airline, submerging the drain in the sump and tried making the hole bigger, no luck. I put the deep blue standpipe in which is 1 1/4 inches draining into a 1 inch line and its quiet. Any idea what I can do with the one I made to silence it?

The other question is I can adjust my teeth depth on the overflow. It is louder also. Im using some filter floss for now and its still kind of loud, anything else I can try?

Here's how its looking now.

I'm no expert on durso's (I'm a Glass-Holes user), but how does the height of the "J" portion on the original compare to your DIY one. In the picture, that J portion looks a little low. If you can, raise it up a bit and see it that helps.

for the overflow teeth noise, take a plastic bag (like a sandwich baggie), cut it into a flat sheet, make some holes in it and use zip ties to attach through said holes to the teeth, this gives the water something to run down rather than crashing through like a waterfall.. IDK if it'll work for your setup but it heped make my overflow quiet, and it cost basically nothing. foam helps too, but will clog up and become a nitrate factory..
