Correlation between Alk and Nitrate

What should be the nitrat level if the Alk is +9 and above? In my aquarium sps the nitrat is 0 and all 9.4

The only thing that should be balanced with your nitrates is your phosphates. To grow coral a system needs nitrates of 3 to 5 ppm and a trace to .o2 phosphates.

High ALK w/ very low NO3 could lead to burned SPS. There is a balance there as well.

Good point, just a high alk in general is not a good thing.
