So for a few weeks I’ve racked my brains trying to figure out why my Zoas were closing and disappearing. I’ve searched high and low for pests, and been trying everything in the book to figure it out. Long story short I gave up and just accepted them disappearing. Then last week I found my temp probe had corrosion coming from it. I pulled it and since they have stopped disappearing. And a few colony’s that I have thought were goners are now opening back up and growing.

Is this a coincidence or was the corrosion causing it?

Crazy how that works. I literally tried everything and stressed and stressed. Then got to the point I just said forget it and accepted it. Now they are growing back lol. Such a rollcoaster.

Maybe there was iron coming from the corrosion. Iron absorbs phosphates, low po4 causes them to close. Have u measured po4 in that period?

That’s probably what was going on. I know it’s sad to say but I never test anything other than salinity and nitrates
