Cost of feeding a tank

Over these last few months, I have been more pressed for money and I am starting to look at my tank as a big money pit. Not at the tank itself, but at the cost of feeding. I go through about 100$ worth of food a month, and as a kid without an income, it really hurts. I feed frozen and sometimes pellets, and I generally buy the big 16 oz flat packs of my sis and brine, along with rods original blend.
Does anyone have a suggestion or suggestions as to what I can do to lower my costs? I use a flat pack of brine and a flat pack of jumbo mysis and 2 packs of rods food every month.

Sell some fish. Just have enough fish that you can afford to feed. Just feed flake with frozen as a treat.

go to your local grocery store and ask to speak to the meat counter manager.

explain that you are trying to feed your fish and you would like to buy any seafood that is about to expire.

if your friendly, they may load you up with stuff.

i have a huge local grocery store and they guy seemed into it so he called me one day and gave me like 3 lbs of shrimp, 2 pounds of tilapia, a bag of scallops and some clams. I said "how much?" and he said.. just take it so i gave him a 10 spot.

throw in a blender with some garlic, seaweed, selcon and beta glucan and then into freezer bags in the freezer.

that is a LOT of food for my fish and i have a 300. They dont need mysis and all that jazz, fresh ...or kind of fresh.... seafood and the beta glucan and vitamins and they are happy.

if you think seafood is expensive... grasp this.. LRS reef frenzy is $40 a pound...

You may want to evaluate if you are over feeding your tank. I've got considerably more fish in a 200 gallon and I don't go through anywhere near that. And I feed pretty heavy.

But since I feed LRS, I spend way more than I want so I'll be making my own food like Brian once my current batch of LRS is done.
