I do agree, you most likely can't be cheaper than buying a Robo-Tank. Parts and Time cost way more for this kind of prototype style construction.

Only exception might be if you don't care about the time since you enjoy it a lot and if you have the parts lying around.

I would say go with the Robo-Tank, I wished I went that route instead of trying to source my own parts probably made me spend way more than I anticipated along with all the troubleshooting that went along with it.

As someone who has built multiple ReefPi setups, complete DIY, Hats etc, I now run two RoboTanks and wish it was available from day 1. Solid setup with ridiculous expandability.
