Guys, I noticed that a few heads of my frozen apple zoa have been closed for two days. First thought travelling snails, then since they stayed close for 3 days, looked closely. I wish I would have taken a pic. I have had this zoa for more than a month, everything fully dipped. It was growing like crazy, from 1 polyp to 5-6 now.

It looked like a puffed up reef glue. I was puzzled why the glue would puff up a month after, so took the scalpel to remove it. Well, it wasnt a glue. It had a look and consistency of a wet cotton. Removed pretty easily, the whole thing came off the frag in one piece. Whats more interesting is that, when i cut it into two pieces, in the middle of it, it had a perfect tunnel from top to bottom, almost looked like some tiny creature was living inside. Prob 1mm in diameter. I didnt see anything on the plug or inside this cottonish thing, so glued the frag back on.

What do you guys think it is? Should I be worried or is this some sort of a one off hitchhiker? Many thanks guys.

Ok, did some googling and definitely looks like its pineapple sponge. Some say they are good, some say they are invasive. I removed this one since it was bothering zoas. Sounds like harmless anyway.

Harmless, usually disappear with a mature tank too, as far as I know.
