Could a cleaner shrimp eat coral

Any one ever have a cleaner shrimp eat coral? I'm loosing a lot of lps coral like scolys chalices acans. I can't figure out what's going on. My corals are being consumed from the outside in. It's almost impossible that I have some kind of hitchhiker. Started with all dry rock and i dip ever thing. All my sps are fine .

Magnesium 1500. Can't get it to go down ever
Phosphate between 0.02 and 0.07
Ph between 7.8 and 8.2
Nitrates Api shows no detectable but not sure most likely low

This is a more than likely a nutrient problem. No nitrates and some phosphates is a problem. aim for like 10ppm nitrate and 0.10 phos.

Would corals deteriorate because of that? I new it wasn't good but I never thought that coral would die. Wouldn't sps be the first to go. Not lps.

Absolutely. I actually just had a similar problem with nutrients in my euphyllia tank. remember, LPS prefer "dirtier" tanks which is why they are going down hill quicker. SPS don't like 0 nitrate or phos either. You need a healthy balance. In many cases you can fix this with heavier feeding, I choose to dose Bionic nitrate and Brightwell phosphorus. It would be highly recommended to invest in test kits like the hanna meters which will give you the exact numbers. you want to monitor these numbers closely as you dont want them to high either. I went from 0 nitrate and phos to 5.5ppm nitrate and 0.05 phos and the difference is night and day.

I will give it a shot. I do have hanna test kits just not a nitrate one I have been using api for nitrate and it's always non detectable. Thank for your advice I appreciate it.
