I added chemipure blue 35 gallon packet. It’s about 25 gallons of water I’d guess total. My acros started not extending polpys and looking unhappy in general. I tested my phosphates and they went to zero so I fed reef roids back up to .14 today. My acros still don’t look happy could this be caused by the chemipure blue since it’s meant for 35 gallons and I have 25 ish?
could I prevent this by just buying pure carbon and using less? I want the added benefit of toxin removal and clear water but without stripping my nutrients.

If anything, it’s probably that your Po4 went to 0. Or purely coincidence like it was mentioned above
Everything else seemed unaffected by the phosphate hitting zero. It hit zero and I caught it quick. Hmm trying to pin point why they aren’t happy and it could be phosphates hitting zero, or light of it’s not the chemipure blue.
is 50 percent acclimation starting over 30 days to quick for acros if it was placed on frag rack ? I moved my acros from frag rack to a spot that has about 300 par and put light at 50 percent starting aclimation over 30 days and noticed at about day 8 they looked ticked. One got bleached tips. I’m new to acros but they were doing so good on the frag rack for 2 weeks

Here are some pics for reference.
the two that are on the rock didn’t bleach just retracted on polpys on one. And the one back on the rack was looking super unhappy. Started losing color, lack of extension on polpys , and brown tops of algae. I moved that back to the frag rack and it doesn’t look like it’s gotten any worse. I also redid the aclimation to starting 30 percent and restarted the days to 30. Only other thing I can pinpoint is phosphate hitting zero. I watch tank very closely and test everything
Alk 8.1 daily on auto doser
Calc 440 tested yesterday
Mg 1400
Nitrates 5-10
Phosphates .14
Salinity 1.024

things that have changed since when they were happy
1) they were on frag rack moved to a much higher par
2) added chemipure blue which lead to phosphates hitting zero

I feel like they should be okay there as my red cap monti and green digitata are. Wondering if I acclimated wrongly by doing 50 percent over 30 days?

I can’t speak for acclimation as I really don’t acclimate corals. Reason being if anything they’re getting less par in my tank. It is possible they’re adjusting to the new light. Honestly as long as you don’t see them receding I probably wouldn’t worry too much. You can try removing the chemipure blue but I wouldn’t do much more than that. One other suggestion, salinity seems a little low

Thank you I definitely saw one receding and I will raise the salinity at water change. It’s a small tank so it dropped by adding corrals and displacing water. The corrals aren’t getting worse but if still not extended. May have to try removing chemipure blue packets. Anyone else care to chime in ? I really want to successful keep acro in a small tank and I observe tank so closely can’t figure it out.
