Hey guys I seem to get this algae growing on just the plastic bits of the tank, it doesn’t grow any we’re else. Could it be GHA? My sand bed and rock work have nothing, on the other hand my frag rack and over flow are plastic and are gradually becoming covered.

It almost seems as though when lights are on it add to the problem.

Tank is about 1.5 years old

tank parameters are as follows:

Salinity 1.02
Alk 8.2
Cal 460
Mag 1400
Nitrate 5-10
Phos 0.03-0.05

Nothing to worry about? How can I get rid of it?
How long have you been reefing? It’s common and no real way to beat it. You’ll probably hear people say lower PO4 and NO3 and carbon dose, clean up crew, vibrant, etc. But it’s part of a healthy tank. If you can’t grow simple algae, you can’t grow corals. I use a scraper to keep the glass clean and just let things be elsewhere.

Been on it a year and half now, same with the glass I just scrape it of but on the plastic bit can’t seem to scrape it of cause of the size. I see all the clean and immaculate tanks and was wondering how there kept to that standard.

Like I said, no algae, no corals. You can use vibrant to help control it. It worked for me. But IME it’s impossible to control film algae.

Yeah right, thanks for the helpful info
