Could I get macro algae?

I mean, you can buy them, but it is probably not a good idea. You will need some fish to create nutrients to feed the algae.

Can you tell us a bit about your tank?

What size, what lights, what are your nitrates and phosphates normally at, what fish... Your op said you have hermit crabs, snails, crabs and a shrimp--what kinds/how many?

These are important factors on whether a macro will survive in your tank. Or, which type of macro is best.
