Could I keep a clam?

My tank is a 29 gallon biocube with a 10 gallon refugium and two current USA orbit marine IC leds, I also run two current USA wavepumps (so I have almost total control of flow). I keep softies and LFS with no problems and my copepod population is big enough for that to be all my fish eat (they are all healthy). I'm having an algae problem right now so maybe not right away, but I plan on upgrading to a 30 gallon soon. I really like some of the clams though. What do the experts say?

I believe with two lights you'd be able to keep a lower light demanding species like a deresa. It will out grow the tank eventually.

Oh wow, just googled those and they are awesome. Do they need very high light then? Would I need to put it near the top of the tank?

With the deresa I'd leave it in the sand bed.

Would not recommend it. You might be able to keep a Derasa. The issue is that small clams can be quite difficult to keep. I never buy a clam till they are 6 to 8 inches in length. I am sure will have people that will post sure you can. But it takes time and a good light source for Maxima and crocea clams. These two clams are very light depended. While we want that coral or clam we may not have the right aquarium at this time to House one.

Here is my Maxima under 150 watt 20 MH it’s 8 inches in size and is growing.

I wouldn't put a maxima or crocea in the biocube, that's why I recommended a deresa. Plenty of light IMO and one that's 3" would be fine. I try to buy clams im the 3-4" sizes.
