So last night I noticed my urchin parked on the underside of my torch coral after lights out. This morning I decided to take a look around the tank with a flashlight before leaving for work. The urchin had moved around to the opposite side of the torch and too my surprise I noticed, where the urchin was the night before, there was a missing chunk of skeleton. Could or whole an urchin munch on coral skeleton?

This happened to me as well, my urchin ate the skeleton of my Hammer as well! I think it's just trying to eat the algae on the skeleton but collaterally damaged it.

That was my fear. I lost a black torch frag and I think this was the cause. It had a missing piece of skeleton and it had a lot of tissue hanging out. I thought maybe it was just a weak spot but now I'm thinking the urchin was the murderer

They do have very sharp teeth! They eat kelp holdfasts in the wild. I'd guess completely possible.
