I started dosing reef energy a and b 2 weeks ago. Could it be causing this? It almost looks like snot. It’s mainly on this frag rack but gets heavy on my wavemakers also after about a week. I also dose nopox. Which was 12ml for a 150 gallon system. Until recently I’ve cut it back to 3ml daily. Hasn’t helped with this. But I do get the usual stuff on my glass that needs wiping down every 3-4 days. The glass has started getting coated with whitish stuff instead of the typical brownish greenish stuff.

Possible. If it's sponge maybe so.
I'd bet the no pox and aminos if it's sponge or bacterial.

Whitish specs could be early cancerous algae small sponges or if they swirl, little fan worms

Stop the nopox (it is carbon dosing ) and directly feeds bacteria.

Stop reef energy. It's food. And aminos. Also feeds Bactria.

Both feed sponges.

Stick your hand in and feel it. Does it fall apart like snot? Or does it have some light structure.

Bacteria is snotty , sponge has some structure.

Understandable. Do a bit of googling w ree2reef as search word with stopping nopox.
It fine to do.
Once the stuff clears up, you can start again, if nutints are a concern, but try a lower dose or farther apart.

The bacteria are just responding to an excess of food and will continue to keep working for a good while now.

Hey take a look at this! My chaeto is growing like crazy btw but anyway I reached in and looked underneath it bc I think it may need about half or more took out of my fuge and found a big white gob of that white stringy algae. Any ideas?
