not an algae expert, how old is tank, can you post parameters ,what lights are you using, sounds like on 13 hrs??

too much,strong lights??

Does it come off in sheets or does it resemble red grass?

Sounds like Cyanobacteria. If resembles small patches of red turf then I would try and remove as much as possible by hand then add more CUC. If bacteria then dosing chemiclean will work wonders on that bacteria!

Looks like ciano your lights are on to long cut your lights down to 8-10 hours if you don’t have coral then turn them on when your home to view the tank the UV filter will only help keep the water clear not kill the ciano microbacter clean will also help and if you don’t have any some trochus snails work great cleaning up with a couple emerald crabs

Cyano could come from not enough flow, too much lighting, if you are using bulbs, it could be an indication the bulbs need to be changed, could be too high of nitrates or possibly something leaching from the decorations you have.

I am going to try and leave the light off for a couple of days and see what happen.

Havnt tried that but it rubs of easy with my fingers
Is cyano bad, and how do I get rid of it.
Cyano is an indication that the system isn't stable, typically. It can be due to lighting, low flow, imbalanced nutrients, etc...

You can try one thing at a time and see if it starts going away. It's not a terrible thing to have, but it is a nuisance. I had it terribly and tried changing and controlling nutrients for many months without resolution... finally used chemiclean and that knocked it completely.

ChemiClean will work well on this. Also check phosphate levels and verify TDS from your water.
Are you using Tap or RO water ?

Thanks for the reply, that is my plan, im trying the less light and feed less, but those sgt majors, omg they are a bunch of pigs, and if i dont put enough food the other fish would starve because of them, i just ordered the chemiclean, dam island I live on you cant get anything, got to order everything from overseas.
