This anemone looks like this now and won’t attach still. Any advice

@Johhny West

Anemones have a mind of their own (sic). You can NOT control where they will set down. They will blow around your tank for days and even weeks before the may find something that they would like to attach to. Even then they will probably end up "walking" to a place that only they can understand is best for them.

It is your job if one of these is under your care not to stop this process. Try to keep them out of harms way, but ultimately do not interfere in their movement. It is for this reason why anemones are one of the first invertabrates added.

That said if your water parameters are not to their liking they may not find a home. More mature tanks are more ammenable to them. Though with experience you will know which conditions must be met for them to put their foot down.

As with all things in this hobby patience is key to success. It is REALLY important to let the creature find it's own place in the system. Interfering in this process will only produce negative outcomes.

My 2 cents.

What kind of anemone is it?
How long has your tank been running, and how long has the anemone been in it?
Tank about two months old just did a water change Yesterday. But my old test were ok but ammonia was .2 and nitrite was 6. It’s 91 gal with a sump and skimmer that is overflowing now. Got 3 clowns 1 tang coral banded shrimp and a damsel. He been in their for about 2 weeks looks ok but gets fat and wont attach. Its a LTA

Have you tried turning off flow and letting LTA attach? It also sounds like your tank is still cycling with the bioload , anemones need mature tanks usually that means the 6 month mark or so. What test kits are you using ? I had to turn off flow overnight to get LTA to dig and attach , I left return pump on so there was some flow but little

What are you using to test ammonia with? If those number are accurate that is concerning.

I agree with @dvgyfresh when getting an anemone to attach you should turn off or very low flow in the tank. I also agree that an anemone needs a stable tank to be happy and healthy. The fact that you have ammonia and nitrite reading shows me that you don't have that yet. Again your test could be wrong so I would start by turning flow down and getting those parameters tested again, or verified with an LFS.

Great ok have turned off the flow. My nitrites and ammonia were zero after about a mouth was zero after so I thought cycling had completed.

Just in case should I leave it in the pvc and prop it up. I dunno how long it make it. But maybe

Could be faulty test kits , which is why I asked what brand , api is notorious for .25 ammonia reading when it’s 0.

Is there any sand in the pvc? My LTA would not attach without Atleast 4inches of sand . I am not sure what species yr anemone is if it would prefer rock or sand , maybe place it on sand next to rock for it to choose? It really took a full 12 hours of low flow for my anemone to find it’s happy place
